Devlog #2 - Animal Assembly Arrives
After a month of sporadic development since the last devlog, it's finally time to publish the first prototype. A lot of ideas have been worked out, and I'm happy to announce that the game finally has a title and theme:
Animal Assembly
That's the name of the game. As for the theme, in case the title didn't give it away, it's "connectable robotic animals". Thanks to some help from my kind friend, Kelly Betty, the cards now have some nice animated portraits! Well, some of them have, at least. They're often quite busy, same as me.
If you read my first devlog, you'll see that quite a lot has changed. No longer are the cards supposed to form a "sentence". Instead, you "build" a robot animal with different parts. The head determines the action, and the rest of the parts change attributes - currently represented as just colored circles. For example, the "dog head" deals damage to the top enemy equal to the "red" attribute while the wing increases the "blue" attribute by 6. This would likely make deckbuilding a lot more flexible while still keeping the main concept of connecting cards, as only one card is required per play as opposed to three like before. Sure, you can't get something funny like "deal damage to self" anymore, but that was more of a gimmick than an actual feature anyway.
There are a lot more small changes, but none are particularly interesting or worth mentioning. I suggest you to just check out the prototype to see for yourself.
Oh, and by the way, I now have a dedicated game development Discord: https://discord.gg/j7XuaSmVkS
That's all. Bye bye!
